The Barking and Dagenham Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) approached us with a brief to create a short fiction film that would have several layers. The aim was to produce a short piece that would show several mental health issues but would not be too obvious to the viewer. The film was to be taken to schoolchildren and used to start discussions about mental health based on what they had seen in the film.
Working alongside Studio 3 Arts and C2C Rail we filmed a majority of the film at Barking rail station and featured the story around two central characters both suffering with different mental health issues that were not outwardly obvious. The overriding theme through the film is the bags they are carrying, symbolising that everybody has 'baggage'.
